Cathy Doherty Bigara co-ordinates information from local rider out training on the route of the UWCT final, with the intention of giving overseas riders information on the route to aid their training and preparations.

The following training rides are scheduled from 4ever Cycles, 39 Chief Albert Luthuli Street.
A back up vehicle will be allocated to each ride that has been scheduled, this is for the safety of our riders.
The rides will be at a training pace and could take up to 4 hours of riding depending on the group.
There will be a fee of R35.00 per rider and all riders will need to be at 4ever Cycles 30min prior to leaving time.

Two ladies went out and road the second part of the 96km race yesterday and it was worth every minute of every photo.

The photos start from the cyclist in pink holding another bike.  From where you turn Right onto the Wartburg road you will have some easy riding until you go over the Umgeni River.  Some pictures show the that the road has lots of holes and again there is sugar cane virtually the whole way.  From the bridge you start climbing and this will be for about 13km there are two slight downs to recover but the road still continues up right into Wartburg!

See some pictures like Lakeview Chickens that is onto of the first hill and the white cross is the next one, after that is the flags on the RHS then into Wartburg.

Friday 22 June
Pictures show some details from the Alexandra start to Orthmann road intersection I have not measures.  From that intersection it starts to climb and this continues for 6.6km till you get to the tower it then levels out for about 2km the road surface is very uneven with many holes on the left.  Sugar cane there is lots on the left of the road and  more so as you ride but approaching the Table Mountain/Wartburg intersection there is lots all over the road.  From the Tower to the intersection it is 8.8km, the last 300metres to the T junction is speed humps and sugar cane!! You can see it on the pictures.
